Lessons from Frozen II

After two years, I only remembered that there’s Frozen 2 and that it aired in 2019. I don’t know why I wasn’t able to watch the second film since I followed the first one.

Be prepared. Just when you think you’ve found your way, life will throw you into a new path. Take it to step by step. Do the next right thing.

Those lines were from the exchange of a soldier and the lead, Anna. Those lines resonated with me the most.

No one expected life to take a turn after the typhoon hit. I had a definite plan. Stay in Siargao for 2 years to ensure that the business will be sustainable enough to function without our supervision. I never planned on staying long-term and never planned on leaving abruptly. From my part, the business would give me a reason to stay in Siargao. But since Siargao was destroyed by Typhoon Odette, my plans crashed with the waves as well.

I am feeling better for someone who experienced a typhoon. Call me a survivor. However, I can’t get myself to think about Siargao and the business. A part of me just wants to let go of that chapter in my life and move on. But I can’t, it’s a four-year contract after all.

It’s not something I can let go of just like that, I keep telling myself. I’ve grown. Don’t go to the old patterns. You’ve been reading Atomic Habits, there are good and habits, let go of the bad ones. Be responsible and don’t retreat. Yes, that’s a learning curve, but you can move forward with it, not just move on from it.

I’m the type who would let go when things and people do not go according to plan. But that’s the past. I am stronger, better, smarter, and more stable.

In addition, my values changed over time, and I’m not strongly advocating the business anymore. I don’t know what the future holds. Like the lines earlier, I’m just going to take it step by step and do the next right thing.
